In Melbourne's eastern suburbs there are many double storey houses replacing old ones and in every case they have very dark roof tiles which weigh around ten tons and store an immense amount of heat in the sunny weather,these houses then need good insulation to stop the heat getting to the rest of the house. If they chose white tiles the problem would be gone or if they chose metal roofing then the heat held by a metal roof disappears as the sun sets so the insulation has lest of a job stopping the heat.
