Russia Could Help Senegal Develop Gas, Oil Industry - Member Of Economic Council

Russia could help Senegal, which is planning to become a "strong" oil and gas producer in three years, Mamadou Diawara, a member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council of Senegal, told Sputnik on the sidelines of Yalta International Economic Forum

YALTA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th April, 2019) Russia could help Senegal, which is planning to become a "strong" oil and gas producer in three years, Mamadou Diawara, a member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council of Senegal, told Sputnik on the sidelines of YaltaInternational Economic Forum.

"In three years from now, we expect a strong production of oil and gas in Senegal, and we think that countries like Russia could really assist Senegal in this regard � in terms of exploitation and by its participation in general," the member of the consultative assembly said.

Diawara remarked that Senegal was interested in "production, creation of infrastructure � a package, but our priorities are in exploitation of oil and gas.

Thierno Diallo, a counselor of the government of Senegal and the president of African Institute of Applied Negotiation, told Sputnik that there was interest in partnerships in such fields as mining and energy.
"A lot of African countries have natural resources that need to be developed, but we don't have a know-how, and this know-how exists in Russia," Diallo said.

Diallo added that Senegal had discovered a large gas reserve that it intended to start developing in 2021.

Yalta International Economic Forum is being held in Crimea and expected to last through Saturday.
