Self interest underpins Geopolitics and in this case the
principle is "Your enemy's enemy is your friend."

This Ukrainian war is inconvenient for the USA in
that it has drawn China & Russia closer together
and this coalition (whether temporary or permanent)
reduces US global power/sphere of influence
both economically and militarily.

IMO this war will also have drawn Russian military
technology and that of China closer and no doubt
that technology will be shared in the construction
of China's latest Nuke Subs which from reports are
being churned out at quarter the production time
of those in the USA.
