Get your head out of the sand Lomu. Russia has immense energy reserves, agricultural production, fertilizer production etc to sell into the global south. Japan does not have those advantages. Russia has cheap energy at home which is just a fraction of what Japan and Europe pay. Sanctions will prompt more industries to develop in Russia. It is just not resources, In high tech Russia have developed the worlds best missile defense systems, Built and launched half the space station. They have produced the Avanguard hypersonic missile, faster than anything else in the world. They have developed their own method to produce LPG. That they will surpass Japan is just a commentators opinion, but they sure are in with a chance IMO.
