Greenies have outlawed new dams and in reality we don't have the topography for enough dams to supply our needs. Pumped hydro can do a bit but it is hardly reliable in a dry country, forecast to get drier if the climate warriors are correct.
Hydrogen is another possibility but again, it's not there yet so are you really going to bet on that working before it's proven?
