I'm not sure if in missing something but it seems shorting stocks is not actually illegal in asx. Only naked shorting where a trader does not have a pre arranged loan of shares to sell.
Shortman.com.au has been showing open short activity on rce for a long time now. The only strange thing is as you started talking about shorters their site seemed to indicate shorters had recently actually closed out all positions after a long period of activity
I have been watching this shorting and small trades pushing prices down ever since the big cash raise a few tears ago. My only question has always been who is doing it and more to the point which holder of shares is loaninshorting g the shorter the shares to sell? I could only imagine it was a large buyer of cr shares who was making some extra cash thinking somehow there was no immediate news upcoming. The fact they now closed their shorts seems to be very positive ?
Either way contacting ASIC about an activity that appears to be legal would be interesting. At the moment I'm watching PLS cop the same treatment on close every day.
