5,006,219 was the total short sales as of 21/07/23 (1.22%)
3,361,416 was the lowest point of total short sales for some years as of 15/06/23 (0.82%)
So at the moment new shorts for this period was 1,644,803 and they were sold ranging from a low of 26.5 to 42.5. Maybe the owners of these new shorts are the same party with the remaining "legacy shorts"
One wonders if there was a leak prior to release to market of partial clinical hold of AZD0466 trial by Starpharma considering AstraZeneca are the investigators, and this market sensitive information would have been known by third parties prior it to be forwarded to Starpharma.
I have not the time or inclination to work out averages, however the shorts have placed some heavy bets in the last month and most of the last week share price has only gone up and short sales have increased as well
It will be interesting to see what happens Monday morning, will the shorts cover or continue to place bets of price falling
Remember the amount of shorts prior to this period were those that had not covered presumably from $2.50 to 26.5 cents. So those are "legacy shares". Perhaps they now realise the trend is now upwards and possibly a good time to cover
They certainly have a lot to think about
