I do know the laws of supply and demand.

If there's a lack of supply vs. demand, a basic economics textbook would tell you (rightly or wrongly) that the price will rise.

The good thing as I see it - is that I have locked in my buy price, regardless of when I get delivery.

The problem with silver is that it is much more bulky than gold. $10,000 worth of gold fits inside a small matchbox. $10,000 worth of silver would fit inside a briefcase.
