single jobless parents to carry budget burden, page-56

"Pretty sickening the economic rubbish that this type of cutback will encourage non workers into work, for starters, there is no work for them, and secondly, the increased child care costs that holding a minimally paid full time job would entail is pretty much the perfect recipe for beginning social deterioration."

I'll repeat it again. This has been legislation since July 2006, so there are a vast amount of single parents already under the scheme. How have they been surviving for the last 6years? Where has the public outrage been?

And to keep it in perspective...a parent since July 2006 is 'shielded' until their youngest turns 16 yrs old. Let's assume the youngest was 6 yrs old when their shield was put in place...that child is now 12 yrs old...surely the parent can go and work a few hours a week OR participate in some training OR other participation activity. I wish people would read the Act covering this legislation.

And yes, there are jobs out there for partime work...obviously not enough to cover everyone, just like any other jobs don't cover the rest of the unemployed force.
