2018 - PM Turnbull - "We need to replace Collins Class subs - my plan is to stick with the ancient Diesel-Electric format and ignore several decent designs where we could buy proven units off the slipways soon. I propose we tell the French we want their nuc design but it has to be "de-nuc'd" for us and converted to Diesel-Electric. I realise the makers are years away from even planning a prototype - and decades away from ever seeing one of my master-works-concept subs costing ?? lets say $100Bill - but trust me there are no threats and it will help votes in SA"
