DataFlex is huge once a company has been set up with DataFlex the phone can become a tool. Think of data being collected, people every day at work fill in forms whether it be the, breakdown roadside assistant a meter reader of some sort atc. All the company needs an apps to suit what the information workers are collecting, they they fill in the form and send the data collected, could be sent straight to a spreadsheet, one person or more some may get all data sent some, some will see just what they need via txt message, no delay the information, is sent straight away received by one or more waiting for the information and no data entry except the initial sheet. Problems can be acted on faster as the people who need to know all know as soon as the sheet is finished , less people entering data, less time spent relaying information. But you can't expect a worker to use his phone without being reimbursed along comes BYOD. I worked on a project a few years ago but we woulded have needed to buy a shite load of ipads on for each machine to send the data, hooked up to IVMS systems (in vehicle management systems some sat and some 4g) but leaving a machine sitting at the mine site, rules say you need to leave the keys in and door unlocked in case it needed to be moved, so how long were the ipads going to last so I canned the idea. But things have changed!!!
