Extracts from the "The Weekend Australian" newspaper regarding Reliance Jio and the future of Telcos with contents....and Syntonic is much ahead in the game.

Gary clearly mentioned in Perth last month how the Telcos are supporting Syntonic's vision and the revenue will talk in the future.

    Fourth industrial revolution looms

    By ALAN KOHLER

The looming fourth industrial revolution represents the final transfer of power from producers to consumers.

Reliance Industries, chairman and CEO Mukesh Ambani is turning the World of mobile telephony upside down, not just India. If David Teoh of TPG following his lead, the disruption to Australian telecommunications will be spectacular and bloody.
Last year Reliance launched the world's first data-only, fully IP mobile network, called Jio. It has since picked up about 100 million customers. Voice calls, carried as data, are entirely free. Ambani announced last year: "The era of paying for voice calls is ending." What's more, data is the equivalent of $1 per gigabyte - one-tenth of the existing price and, as it happens, about one-tenth of the average price in Australia.
Most mobile networks were built for voice and are being "retrofitted" for data. The Jio network
has been built specifically for data, and works entirely with internet protocols - leapfrogging 5G,
which Telstra is planning to bring in ... sometime.
Reliance seems to be passing on almost all the cost savings from this network structure, with the
intention of making money from content - movies and games, etc.
If Teoh follows Ambani's lead and passes on all cost savings to customers backed by a content
strategy, it will be a proper mess in Australia and Telstra, Optus and Vodafone will be in deep trouble.
The days of making money from telecommunications - data transportation - alone may be over.
