Sweden has a strong legal system. This is not the way the courts work. Especially not when all they're supposed to be deciding is whether or not an appeal is warranted. Do you expect the Sami to withdraw their appeal? Do you expect Talga to withdraw theirs? Does the court even have a mechanism for such arrangements? What precedent would it set if rather than ruling on the merits of a case, a court got directly involved with trying to barter a solution - not good.
For an actual case - maybe. This is a straight-forawrd process for the court in a well-formed framework. No secret handshakes or negotiations. Just takes a long time because our mining licnese application has 10,000x the amount of paperwork of all the other cases the court is normally reviewing.
Our permit has been granted. Only reason for appeal the Sami has is a qualitative trade-off of balancing impacts. The needle for that just got moved 1000 miles further in Talga's favour with China reminding the world they are an unreliable supplier and they will wield their monopolies for political advantage.
