I can never forgot holding Zinifex (now Oz Minerals) shares back in the day around the time of the GFC and their decision to go buy a mine in Rosebery, Tasmania for about ~$700 million. In this case they had a considerable amount in the bank to fund this but it still went pear shaped. Even the merger they ended up having shortly after this was a bit of a farce.
