Tassal have been expanding their smolt production to increase harvest size. Its been a big CAPEX investment for them, $30m, and leads the pack compared to Huon or Petuna.

This investment will likely expand the smolt size from 120g to 200g. Perhaps it will also contribute to increasing throughput in the marine pens - the strategy is 45k tonne by 2030, about 5k tonne more than now, with no new marine licenses. Bigger smolt, less time in ocean, more 5kg fish produced.
Bakkafrost has been the innovator of increasing smolt size to reduce farming times. Theyre targeting 300g smolt and 12months of marine growth. Not sure if Tassal will go that large, but maybe in the future. Here are some interesting articles about their plans
