We had doomsayers here saying that once the US earnings season gets underway the market will plunge to a new low.

...That once General Motors, formerly the biggest company in the world, went bankrupt, markets would plundge.

Neither happened.

The mantra is the trend is your friend, don't fight the trend.

We were told this is the worst economic time since the Great Depression --- By what measure? Surely such comparisons can only be made after the event?

The resiliance of the US economy is amazing and not to be under-estimated.
