Our antiquated democracy was not prepared for the onslaught of global financial influence. It began with the move to neoliberalism which both, allowed the weakening of our political and cultural spheres while enriching and emboldening our financial class effectively turning them into silverback gorillas and us into an annoyance.

True economics has gone out the window, the rules are that if it isn't nailed down you can take it or bribe a political party to hand it to you. But, its best if one can walk into the bank, fill their bags in broad daylight and parade as a paragon of social virtue as they lecture the plebs on the importance of hard work and financial rectitude.
