Yes, PB. Back when I had a power boat, I chose a single main outboard plus a tiny limp-home auxiliary, because that was more economical than a twin setup. Back then, even three outboards smacked of exhibitionism. I suspect we have huge room for improvement in our fuel frugality before even bothering with battery power. For example, dropping the speed limit from 100km/hr to 80km/hr pretty much halves the highway fuel consumption of cars.
