If you get time and have not done so already, I recommend you read "A Century of War" by William Engdahl. If I am interpreting in your interest in geo-politics vs markets correctly, I am sure you would enjoy it's content.
It has helped me understand and hopefully get ahead of the relationships between Bonds vs DXY vs Oil vs Gold markets, and who,why and when they manipulate each market.
Basically a history of Anglo/American control of oil, through financial and political muscle from pre WWI to present day. An investor can only benefit from the perspective (a peep behind the curtains) this book provides - IMHO.
