You need to speak to someone and get some tax advice . If you do not understand the benefit of realising your losses for tax purposes but effectively keeping "exposure" via a different entity or family member it is a very effective strategy to pay less or defer CGT. Worst case is if you have cap gains you pay less tax and should SPL recover you can stagger your selling over several tax years in future top minimise tax. Other strategy would be to sell them into your SMSF and take Tax Loss on personal account .SMSF of unrelated entity If in accumulation mode any gain will have lower tax paid upon disposal and or if in retirement mode 15 % or zero tax should SPL actually rise on news and you eventually sell. Why not bring a tax loss forward if you have the structure and ability to do it? ?

Well worth looking at the brokers doing any business in SPL and especially larger transaction or crosses yourself rather than trusting people on HC who have continuously posted incorrect, speculative, uninformed and misleading information. Make the small effort and get your own confirmation of information directly to understand your investment.
