Pick a sector, find the smaller cap companies (for the biggest growth in SP, it is easier to go from 25 mil to 100 mil than it is to go from 400 mill to 1.6 bil). Check out the projects, likelihood of success, quality of management, location of projects, local risk factors, risk of oversupply in the sector and so on.

Its your money, you have to check it out yourself. Then my tip is put 1-2% of your money into the spec you are interested in. By having a small amount of cash in, you won't be too worried if you blow it but you will keep reading about the company like following your local footy team. If the figures change like they did for MAK (check out my original post of 'share doubling announcement') then start to switch more cash in there. That's my two cents.
