Perhaps now is the time to review why Talga’sresource is way ahead of the competition. Some points that the mainstream commentatorshave yet to pick up on.

I am relating this from memory, so am happyto be corrected by any of the long term holders.

    · Mark has mentioned many times that unlike metals, graphite has many signatures that tie it to its original source regardless of the downstream processing carried out and that all battery anodes require graphite, but not all graphite is suitable for anodes.

    · Traditionally, the value of graphite was directly related to flake size. Larger (>200 micron) was better.

    · Talga’s flake size at Vittangi was small. It varied between .05 and 50 microns. Not the best for non-battery uses but perfect for batteries. Only part of the two tails need be filtered out. Very little reforming required. This means less running costs, less wastage and lower capital costs.

    · The reasons for the Vittangi flake size being unique (I understand) is its origin.

    · While the large flake graphite has its historic origins as plant or animal matter, Vittangi micro-flake is pre-historic. Its source of carbon is bacteria. When Earth was formed it had an atmosphere of CO2 which was the food source for bacteria in the seas. The bacteria retained the C and discharged the O2 as waste to the atmosphere. Thank you very much. Eventually, these bacteria ran out of CO2, starved to death and dropped to the sea floor as high purity carbon. Much iteration of extremely high temperatures and high pressures gave us the Sweden deposit. Imagine the original deposit as a carpet on the sea floor which has now been rolled up into a tube. This carpet (now graphite which is 20 to 40 m thick) has been rolled into a tube (around 20km dia) and turned on end. This now Talga’s Swedish resource. Its depth yet to be determined.
