The cost of raw materials has very little impact on the final battery price. For example a tesla has approx 50kg of lithium carbonate equiv in the battery. In an extreme shortage the price of lithium could double from $10,000/tonne to $20,000 and it would mean only a $500 increase in the cost of a Tesla. Not something tesla buyers would even notice or care about.
This increase would be more than made up for in other improvements in manufacturing and supply chain efficiencies.
The cost of the battery manufacturing is far higher and this is where the focus is on cost reduction and improvements in technology.
