I also shared this concern/interest.
I emailed GW on Saturday evening asking this exact question (and a number of others) and pleasantly received a detailed response early Sunday morning. It appears that GW has been contacted via Top20 SHs after he made that post and after further discussions and serious consideration he has changed his view on this. I suspect that the Brown's may have filled in a lot of historical missing pieces to GW.
I am more than comfortable with the reasonings that GW provided and I am confident that he will be more than happy to reiterate/expand on these at any of the roadshows this week.

I am excited for the future of TNG and finally having transparent key objectives that can be tracked against and decent shareholder communications.
