Don't agree. Every time Turnbull shows his feral side and personally attacks Shorten it backfires. It's not Prime Ministerial and sounds more like a rabid Opposition leader. Turnbull's approach is what got him into strife before he was removed by Tony Abbott. At least he was in Opposition then and it still did not enhance his prospects and resulted in a spill and a switch to Abbott.

Todays approach is an indicator to me that the govt is defeated failing to win over the voters on the policy front and instead has opted to go into smear mode once again. It only serves to remind the voters of the same approach when Turnbull tried to out Rudd with smear that backfired badly. When a govt has to rely on shouting abuse across the chamber to an Opposition making it sound as if the Opposition is the govt, tells us it's actually the govt on the ropes.

I have noted in recent times that whenever Turnbull goes into personal attacks of Bill Shorten the polls that followed saw no gain for the govt nor Turnbull's personal ratings.

    They never learn.
