Firstly what I say is that my sympathy goes out to this man's family and friends. I have been in this industry a long time and news such as this shows that the industry, while having made leaps and bounds regarding safety over the years, still has a fair way to go.

Clearly FMG owns the ground and therefore is responsible for it's employees and contarctors in regards to OH&S.

I don't believe anyone can make an educated comment until the facts of this tragedy are known. Whether the accident could have been prevented if the site was unionised I don't know.... I don't have the facts.

In any case an employee has the right to assume he will go home to his family after each shift.

I can't really comment further Rich until I hear what happened and how it happened. I have no idea whether FMG were blantently at fault or not.
