Hi Philanthropist,
I was under the impression that the US election will be held in November. With all that is going on around the world at present that is an eternity away! The 'establishment' (left and right) don't want Trump so I think there is potential for an assassination of someone on the left side of their political spectrum. This would motivate the 'lazy leftie numpties' to get off their collective arses and vote!!
If you think the above scenario is unrealistic then just think back to what happened after JFK's unfortunate demise.
To be quite frank, I don't think the US has much control over where the POG is going in the long term - the Chinese and Russians will determine that!!!
