Unlike the CCP, Australian governments mostly do not think through our policies for the greater good of our country. Although there are notable exemptions. We might say that we are victims of our bi-polar political system, where left and right fight to install their own ideologies. Not that i would give that up for Chinese political singularity. The MRRT may be a point in case. China reducing its independence on our resources may prove to be our saving grace, although I fear it is too late for this now.
Their stakehold here now, even though they've spread their investment dependence elsewhere, will keep them attached to us in ways I'd rather not fathom, as described in my initial post. Of course, pushing them off like has occurred recently will only make their resolve more belligerent.
