    Roof top solar panels installed on all structures capable of holding them would seem to be a great idea and a suitable answer to the perceived problem related to the loss of land area that large scale panel farms would cause.

    Another point in its favour is that it would reduce losses associated with sending the power over distance issues.

    There is a downside you and others may not have factored in though?

    Solar panel’s are black and shiny aren’t they?
    They reflect heat and sunlight upwards?
    The idea of solar panels is to reduce emissions and stabilise our climate?

    This attempted cure for our reliance on fossil fuels with these panels has some good points but they also add to the “heat island effect” which in turn raises temperatures around them, reduces potential rainfall and effects traditional rainfall patterns across our population areas and farmlands.
