Former Barrick Gold executive Michelle Ash is among the big winners from BHP’s takeover of OZ Minerals, moving into a role where she will drive the development of a copper province in South Australia.
Ms Ash, who only joined OZ Minerals a year ago to run the mining technology and automation portfolio, will report directly as vice president of growth to Edgar Basto, BHP’s chief operating officer.
“The team will work closely with the Olympic Dam, Carrapateena and Prominent Hill teams to develop the growth projects and infrastructure required to build a copper province in South Australia,” Mr Basto wrote to staff in an internal memo.
OZ Minerals managing director Andrew Cole did not join BHP as part of the takeover.
