In a chat with my broker the other day, he was very negative about IAG - well, insurance companies in general.
He said they usually have good yields but there are too many unknowns. Looking at IAG for 2021 FY, my yield was only 1.4%. In 2020 and earlier, it was typically 5-6%.
Then looking at the share price, it started to go down in 2019 - before Covid - and continued down to now when it is only a bit over half what it was in 2019.
By comparison, QBE dived at the same time as Covid arrived, but has pretty much recovered now. However, its yield is even worse than IAG.
So is it worth persevering, or better to dump it and use the money elsewhere?
