Wrong the answers are all over forums but people choose the play conspiracy games and call it unfair. It is simply a algo order setting you can choose if you wish a algo to participate in opening or do a order in 1st half hour or any other period you set. It can even trade with a 2nd algo with same buyer seller and not fall foul of rules as both algos are acting independently!! . Could be setting a range , could be $ cost averaging etc etc so many options an dmethods.

So why do people use algo - to trade be that sell down or buy up etc etc that is trading / investing.

Everyone has access to algo through a broker you just have to choose right broker or ask etc etc.

All that matters is VWAP on a daily price as it is volume that moves market prices not one of tiny trades affecting opening or closing being used by technical traders to set a pattern formation that they can trade
