Where's the CEO's media presence?

Okay, a lot to cover in this post, here goes:

Part of any CEO’s job is promoting the company. When Richard Cottee was CEO of CTP he did a plethora of interviews for print news and financial programs. Cottee also promoted CTP and his vision for the company’s future whenever he was interviewed. (Don’t believe me? Just Google Richard Cottee and Central Petroleum). Say what you will about Cottee today, he knew the company, the industry, and the challenges. He never shied away from a question and no interview question was off-limits. Talking the company up is a HUGE part of any CEO’s duty, and Cottee did it well.

In contrast, Leon Devaney has been conspicuously absent from the media. Google searches turn up barely a handful of interviews on radio or YouTube… (there is a YouTube video in which LD makes an unfunny joke about “mining for bitcoin” to increase company revenue). Each interview Leon has done is carefully choreographed and managed, nothing to put him on the spot to explain performance issues (company performance issues, just to be clear… get your minds out of the gutter). There have been more sightings of Tasmanian tigers in the past five years than interviews of Leon Devaney in the same period (an exaggeration?... hardly).
