James Edward Marsh started his working life asan Industrial Chemist. After completing University, with a Honours Degree inChemistry and Physics, he began his career in 1988 with English China Clays (ECC)in Cornwall England. Cornwall was the home of Kaolin production. It began in thelate 1700’s and was the worlds largest producer of Kaolin for centuries.Generations of families worked at ECC, basically James was born to work in theKaolin Industry. ECC employed around 10,000 workers, with 300 working in theresearch department which is where James began at ECC. After spending time inthe Technical Service Department and then Marketing, ECC got bought out by the Frenchgiant Imerys. Imerys at the time were the world’s largest producer of Kaolinfrom some 25 Countries including Australia. James worked for Imerys for afurther 15 years as the Technical Sales Manager for Europe and Asia.
James has been instrumental in developing andlaunching Industrial Minerals products, especially Halloysite/Kaolin, intoestablished and new applications on a Global level. Andromeda Metals' aim is to bethe world leader in everything Halloysite/Kaolin, no better way to get therethan having the Man who is everything Halloysite/Kaolin leading the way.
In 2002, James moved to Australia to work on other Kaolin Projects with Minerals Corporation LTD, where he spent the next 8 years. He worked on the Skardon River Kaolin Project before becoming Executive Director of Minerals Corporation.
James has now been in Australia for almost 20 years. In 2010 he began working as a consultant for Minotaur Resources (MEP) and spent 1 year working on the Poochera Kaolin project for them. Even from these very early days, James was aware of the very special type of Kaolin at the Poochera Resource; known as Halloysite Kaolin. It was a very rare and very valuable material. After one year with MEP, James had a difference of opinion in the Strategy moving forward with MEP and Poochera. James moved onto to working with Active Minerals International group, who were at the time, the world’s largest producer of Dry Processed Kaolin. He spent 7 years with the Australian division, Active Minerals Australia.
In 2018 James was approached by Andromeda Metals and offered the role of Managing Director with the main task of moving forward on the Poochera Kaolin Project, and what an Amazing job he's done.
