Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the time there would have been plenty of people who would have sold to preserve their capital. While those people may have missed out on 10%-15% gains in this instance, those are the same people who would have saved themselves a fortune in other instances when a stock goes into a downtrend (I'm still holding PLS and in hindsight it would have been a good idea to offload earlier, but hey... I don't have a crystal ball).

Then, as you've mentioned, there are inexperienced investors who may have got spooked. So what? We've all been there. The first stock I ever bought was Rio around 2010, sold it with a 20% loss. I learned from my mistakes through experience and education, not because someone rubbed my face in it.

Just my 2 cents worth. Might not be popular opinion, but I think this needs to be said because we should rise above down-rampers and nay-sayers.
