From mining.com July 12 2022 - Anglo Americans Quellavecco mining commenced output will be producing 100-150 000 tons per year. Is in Peru.
Also next year the expansion at Rio Oyu Tolgoi expansion kicking in lifting copper output. Article says output was 125-15000 tons in 2019 peaking at 560 000 tons by 2025. (Mining.com July 15).
there is a post on SFR thread with an excerpt from report from Barrenjoey which is bearish on copper prices next year and they site both mines as contributing to increased copper production next year at a time of lower copper utilisation. I am not sure this is right - cutbacks in output, maybe China stimulus etc.
While there are costs with delaying getting on with Nifty there is also the risk of being too early and starting up in a poor copper price environment.
