Agreed, price for the consumer doesn't seem to be a limiting factor. And the $EBITDA/kg seems to be increasing, not decreasing of late. So reckon revenue and profitability for salmon is unlikely to be the main cause - besides, this was all covered in the annual report pretty well, and the shorting started prior to the preliminary annual report (27 July) and has ramped up since then.
And another thing.. insider holdings have been increasing, including some directors buying in up to $3.63. So if it was something like insider trading on prawn regulations etc, then presumably the directors would know of this and not be buying their own stock?
On the positive side, at some point these shorts need to be unwound. And that could create positive momentum for the stock price.
