A few years ago I was following AVR and a group set up a private shareholder discussion group via another website. Posters could only be brought in by invitation. Worked quite well. It just involved the serious posters. There were a couple of dissenters included if they could put forward a coherent argument. Posters also felt free to share certain discussions / information they wouldn't have posted on a public site.
