Reading the bible and taking every word as literal English translation and meaning has led everyone up the garden path; me included. Selective scriptural referencing will do the same. I have never found a definition of love, that is understandable, in the bible. Saying God is love Is meaningless for someone who doesn't know God.

Not gone and checked all the Greek etc to compare, but I think you will find, often where love has been included, charity should have been used. Mind you, they do go hand in hand.
