Zip is trying to establish as a payment option along the likes of pay pal and Apple Pay etc. buying a pizza for 10bucks and splitting it does not make much sense but having zip logo across all the stores and online is a good exposure and free product marketing, any user sign up is a bonus. but the long game is they want to be seen as a payment provider and make it available everywhere. it is the journey for user buying a pizza, eating out at a restaurant, travelling by Ola, getting flight tickets, renting a car, staying at a hotel, buying clothes.. zip wants be along that journey. anyone in product marketing would know what this means. and beyond that who know zip would want to acquire a neo bank or do it themselves as they already do the credit side.. why not take deposits and offer everything. this decade is going to see a huge shift in fintech, consumer lending and credit. ask anyone working in fintech and they will tell you.. all in my opinion.. dyor..
