The inability of the electric Fan Boys and Girls to comprehend technical matters is legendary. But then they are distracted as their Fake World crumbles beneath them.
The ludicrous statements about hybrids is an excellent example.
A petrol hybrid has the same range and better of normal petrol cars with much better economy. Hence they are very popular particularly for city driving and not so much for highway driving.
The hybrid has ALL the few advantages of the unsafe electric "cars" and lots more as it is quickly refueled.
Obviously the petrol hybrid is just a test bed for the eventual hydrogen fuel cell hybrid as they are very similar.
I believe some hybrids can be charged electrically as well.
The hybrid technique is widely used in BIG equipment like trains and mining and construction where a diesel engine drives a generator which supplies the power to the electric motors driving the wheels. Hence the term diesel electric which will eventually be changed to hydrogen electric.
But it is stopping pollution in the cities from the BIG diesel trucks moving containers from the wharves and doing construction delivery and earth removal that is the main target for hydrogen to simply get rid of the fowl diesel pollution.
